Introducing FRONTIER

And he [Jesus] said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.   (Luke 10:1-12 (ESV))

FRONTIER is a Christian leader traineeship intentionally designed to enable, empower and release individuals for missional leadership within the local church.  Its transformational design nurtures life-long discipleship, faith, and spirituality in an intentional mission context within the grace embrace of a growing missional church community.  At its heart, FRONTIER aims to release participants into the wider church to enable missional leadership capable of renewing established local faith communities or planting new churches.

As a campus of Melbourne School of Theology, FRONTIER offers a formal academic pathway towards a fully accredited and nationally recognized degree.

Participants are offered either a:

  • Diploma of Ministry

or

  • Graduate Diploma of Divinity.

In the non-residential experience, FRONTIER participants are encouraged to develop their call to missional leadership in their local church, in partnership with the leadership of their local church.  Non-residential participants can choose to undertake the complete their academic elements within a full year, or choose to spread it over several years as a part-time journey.

In the residential experience, FRONTIER participants live and work together in community as they develop missional skills and leadership.   During the course of FRONTIER’s year, participants  undertake the academic units designed to develop the type of missional leadership to which the Spirit is calling them.  Participants develop their call, and experience spiritual growth in actual missional environments, learning and developing a theological language that is missional in practice and application, while learning to take risks under the grace of the Spirit’s guiding.

FRONTIER is embedded within St Luke’s Lutheran Church, Albury, NSW, and her missional focus of being a Growing Church for a Growing City.  It is delivered as a campus of Melbourne School of Theology and in partnership with the Lutheran Church of Australia’s New and Renewing Churches Department, the Lutheran Church of Australia New South Wales District.
