NSW Synod 2017

September 19, 2017

For over a year, the FRONTIER team has been working hard to develop a church planting and missional experience for up-and-coming leaders within the church. FRONTIER has been blessed by a vision from God, been given strength by Jesus and constant guidance through the Holy Spirit. The rubber hit the road for FRONTIER last weekend with its first large-scale public representation, at the NSW district Synod.

From the 15th to the 17th of September, members of the NSW Lutheran District gathered at the picturesque Warrambui for its biennial Synod convention. National Bishop John Henderson, District Bishop Mark Lieschke and many other pastors and church delegates came together to discuss the future of the NSW Lutheran church and FRONTIER was proud to be involved.

As pictured, FRONTIER had a stand setup at Synod, which served as a great conversation piece. I had many engaging conversations with a broad range of people who either had questions about FRONTIER, or just wanted to know more. It was fantastic to chat with some prospective participants, as well as key stakeholders within the church.

The excitement for FRONTIER certainly gained momentum over the weekend as more people discovered the uniqueness of the program. Jacob Traeger, a missional community leader from Woden, ACT, showed particular interest, saying that “FRONTIER is an exciting new initiative within the Lutheran Church. It’s a great opportunity for young Christians to experience mission in community together.”

He went on to say that he prays “that the people who God grows and equips through FRONTIER will be a blessing to the church and as we participate in God’s story of salvation for all people.”

It is fantastic to know that dedicated Christians throughout the wider church are invested in mission and church planting and FRONTIER aims to serve these people.

If you know someone who has a heart for local mission, please pass on information about FRONTIER. We believe that we have a call from God to help raise spirit-filled practitioners in our church, and we can’t wait to see the fruit FRONTIER will produce.

I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming SENT conferences around the nation!
